All professional drivers have to undertake 35 hours of periodic classroom based training every 5 years to ensure that their Driver CPC remains valid.
This training is designed to confirm and expand on the existing knowledge and skills of each driver to ensure that they continue to be safe, courteous and fuel efficient as they carry out their daily duties.
We deliver courses made up either by combining two 3.5-hour modules from our wide range of DVSA approved material or from our selection of stand-alone 7-hour modules.
3.5-Hour Modular Course
- Delivering the Goods: Points of Call – High Streets, Ferries, Ports, Terminals, Rural Driving, Urban Driving, Care Homes, Schools and Hospitals – Route Planning, Customer Service
- Driver Welfare: Driver Health, Alcohol & Drugs, Fatigue, Driver Fitness
- Drivers Hours & Tacho Awareness: Drivers Hours Rules, Tachographs, Operational Guidance
- Drivers Hours Rules: Drivers Hours Rules, Working Time Regulations, Operational Guidance
- Fire Awareness: Causes of Fire and Dangers, Actions in the Event of a Fire, Fire Extinguishers & Use, Fire Prevention
- First Aid Awareness: Actions in an Emergency, CPR, Unresponsive Casualty, Choking Adult, Wounds, Bleeding & Shock
- Food Safety: Food Safety & Contamination Risks, The Drivers Role, Requirements for Different Food Types
- Fuel Efficient Driving: Benefits of Fuel-Efficient Driving, Fuels & Fluids, Use of Vehicles, Fuel Efficient Driving

- Safe Use of Skip & Hook Loaders: Vehicle Checks, Safe Use of Skip Loads, Safe Use of Hook Loaders

7-Hour Modules
- Vulnerable Road Users – FORS Approved (Where Do We Encounter VRU’s? Who Are the VRU’s? Sharing Road Space, Route Planning, New Traffic Systems, Professional Drivers Role, Hazard Perception, Defensive Driving, Blindspots, Vehicle Safety Systems, Cyclists, Pedestrians, Motorcyclists, Horse Riders)
- Operator Licence Awareness (Drivers Hours, Fleet Inspections & OCRS, Operator Licensing, Driver CPC, Driver Licensing, Guide to Maintaining Road Worthiness, Walk Around Checks, Enforcement)
- Emergency First Aid at Work (Roles & Responsibilities, Incident & Casualty Assessment, Unconscious Casualties, CPR, Recovery Position, Choking, Shock, Minor injuries, External Bleeding, Other Conditions)

- Safe Use of Lorry Loaders: 1-day Experience Refresher and 2-day Novice Slinger & Signaller
