ADR is the legislation that controls the carriage of dangerous goods by road throughout Europe. Anyone involved in this area of logistics must make sure that their drivers obtain a Vocational Training Certificate administered by the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

We provide training courses covering the following classes:

Core – Covering the basic overview of dangerous goods. Including basic first aid, firefighting and emergency procedures.

Tanks – Covering the carriage of dangerous goods in tanks.

Packages – Covering the carriage of dangerous goods in packages.

  • Class 2 – Flammable Gases
  • Class 3 – Flammable Liquids
  • Class 4 – Flammable Solids
  • Class 5 – Oxidising agents and organic peroxides
  • Class 6 – Toxics
  • Class 8 – Corrosives
  • Class 9 – Miscellaneous
How To Qualify:

To qualify for a certificate students have to pass a minimum of the core module plus either the packages module or the tanks module plus at least one class module.

Some typical examples of driver training examination requirements:

  • A driver distributing LPG cylinders would need to attend the course and pass the examinations for Core, Packages and Class 2.
  • A tanker driver conveying petroleum spirit would need to attend the course and pass the examinations for Core, Tanks and Class 3.
  • A driver who conveys compressed gases in both tankers and packages would need to attend the course and pass the examinations for Core, Packages, Tanks and Class 2.
  • A tanker driver in general haulage would need to attend the course and pass the examinations for Core, Tanks, Classes 2, 3, 6, 8 & 9.
  • A driver in general haulage carrying packaged goods would need to attend the course and pass the examinations for Core, Packages, Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 9.

It is extremely important to ensure that drivers are entered for the correct number of examinations as they will be restricted to conveying only those classes of dangerous goods shown on their vocational certificate.
